Job Description

Student Support Services is increasing their outreach to SUU students. Our goal is to enhance the Student Support Center as a site for resources pertaining to first-generation students, students with low income, and students with disabilities. Thus, we are looking for a dynamic addition to the Student Support Center to assist with developing programs, scheduling events, and assisting SSS students.

General Duties & Responsibilities

1. Manage the secretarial and clerical affairs of the Student Support Center.

2. Assist the Director in the development of new programs, including scholarship programs.

3. Help organize the Student Support Center events.

4. Work with the SSS staff and the director of the Student Support Center to assist SSS students in all academic/personal needs.

5. Assist with grant writing, as needed.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

1. Making travel and lodging arrangements for the Student Support Center.
2. Arranging all Student Support Center events.
3. Assembling an invitation list for each of the events.
4. Assembling a list of each cohort of SSS students.
5. Tracking the SSS courses.
6. Assisting the SSS staff and director with any needs.
7. Coordinating publicity for the events.
8. Working with organizations across campus.
9. Updating the website.

Required Qualifications

1. Associate degree, or equivalent credit hours required; bachelor degree preferred.
2. Experience with clerical work and event coordination.
3. Excellent word processing and spreadsheet skills.
4. Ability to work well with the public.
5. Knowledge of SUU procedures concerning financial matters, or the ability to learn quickly.
6. Experience in making travel and lodging arrangements.
7. Flexibility in working for several hours when the need arises.
8. Willingness to commit to this position for an extended time.
9. Competent writing skills.

In accordance with Utah State Code 53B-1-110, appointment to this position is contingent upon the successful passing of a background check.

Preferred Qualifications

Background in Student Affairs preferred, but not required.
