Job Title Purchasing Coordinator/Buyer
Job Description

Procure equipment, supplies and services for campus departments in accordance with University, State and Federal procurement laws. Administration of the campus purchasing card program. Other duties may be assigned as required.

General Duties & Responsibilities

1. Performs general purchasing services as
assigned; process requisitions from
departments, solicits formal and informal
quotes, prepares specifications and contractual terms, processes
procurement documents; prepares and
analyzes bids assuring price competitiveness, confers with departments on requirements, acts as vendor liaison, expedites orders, maintains reference files; and other issues relating to purchasing services.
2. Responsible for the day to day
administration of campus Purchasing Card program. Involves ongoing employee training regarding campus policies and procedures.

University purchasing policy and

6. Selects suppliers and promotes good
vendor relationships.

Required Qualifications

1. Graduation from an accredited institution
with a Bachelor’s degree in a related
discipline; or a combination of education
and experience directly related to the
duties and responsibilities totaling a
minimum of six years.
2. Ability to work efficiently within a stressful
environment and adherence to time constrained projects.
3. Knowledge of principles and practices of
purchasing policies and procedures,
specifications, customer relations, vendor
relations, request for proposal (RFP) process, good verbal/written communication skills and light accounting principles.
4. Working knowledge of good office skills,
including word processing, spreadsheets,
and effective computer operation with a
preference in purchasing software
5. Ability to develop and/or understand new
techniques and to apply general principles to deal effectively with specific
conditions or problems when they arise.
6. Basic knowledge of general purchase
agreement and contractual terms.
7. Basic understanding of “State Contract
