Job Description

The SUU American Language and Culture Center (ALCC) is creating a pool of adjunct lecturers to teach intensive English courses. This is a one year appointment to end August 20, 2018.

General Duties & Responsibilities

Instructors will be teaching intensive English courses to small groups of international students.

Duties will include classroom instruction, preparation to provide instruction, assessment of student progress, and attendance at meetings and professional development workshops.

Instructors will be teaching a variety of skill levels in reading & writing, listening & speaking, and integrated grammar.

Required Qualifications

Required: Master’s degree in TESOL or related field OR Master’s degree plus TESOL certificate; experience teaching ESL at the post-secondary level.

Applicants without a Master’s degree will be considered if they demonstrate extensive knowledge in ALL of the following areas (including practicum experience):

  • language teaching methodology
  • the nature of language/languages (e.g. introduction to linguistics)
  • the structure of English (e.g. syntax, phonology, morphology, discourse)
  • second language acquisition
  • intercultural communication
  • practicum experience

In accordance with Utah State Code 53B-1-110, appointment to this position is contingent upon the successful passing of a background check.
