Job Title Marketing Specialist - Summer Coordinator
Job Description

Marketing Specialist – Summer Coordinator will provide marketing services, primarily research-analysis-proposals, that support graduate studies and summer term operations and enrollment.

General Duties & Responsibilities

1. Support graduate education and summer term with a variety of marketing functions: market research, operations analysis, proposals, and basic advertising and promotion. The purpose is to positively affect enrollment of graduate and summer term students.

2. Summer Term: Provide comprehensive analysis of enrollment data and trends; develop and track initiatives to promote enrollment growth; collaborate with departments and colleges across campus to create summer course schedules tailored to student need; implement best practices to improve the functioning of SUU summer session policies; address student need for summer academic, financial, and recreational resources; and maintain a comprehensive marketing plan designed to increase awareness about and engagement with SUU’s summer sessions.

3. Graduate Studies: Conduct market research to identify market opportunities for current programs, graduate learner needs, and trends and new program ideas which are labor market focused. Act as liaison to Marketing Communication department. Facilitate basic email and social media marketing campaigns. Web liaison for the Graduate & Online School web site.

4. Technology Management: Manage technologies for CRM, email marketing, student information system, website management platform(s), spreadsheet and analysis tools, and so forth.

5. Assist potential and current graduate students in making informed decisions by providing ethical, timely, accurate, and comprehensive admissions options and program information.

6. Display public support and pride in SUU initiatives, have a deep respect and appreciation for SUU traditions, and higher education.

7.Participate in ongoing professional improvement through trainings and/or conferences.

8. Perform any additional tasks or responsibilities assigned by the Dean or immediate supervisor.

9. Position is at will.

Required Qualifications

Education, Training, and Skills

1. A Bachelor’s degree in Marketing (or closely related field) from a regionally-accredited institution is required.

2. Strong skills in market research that extend beyond simple audience demographics. Must be able to target, collect, analyze, and report data which will be used to make decisions for summer term and graduate programs.

3. Web design skills, with basic coding ability.

4. CRM skills.

5. Ability to work effectively with internal and external constituents.

6. Proficient with computer/communications technology including cloud-served tools, and so forth.

7. Posses high-level knowledge of the higher education market and industry.

8. Must be student-oriented and have the ability to perform multiple tasks efficiently and effectively.


1. Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently and effectively.

2. Customer service or advising experience entailing one-on-one interaction is highly preferred.

3. Must possess a high level of interpersonal and communication skills to accurately convey University information as described above.

4. Must have an excellent command of professional presentation skills and be comfortable presenting to groups both large and small.

5. Must be self-motivated and be able to work effectively in a team environment.

In accordance with Utah State Code 53B-1-110, appointment to this position is contingent upon the successful passing of a background check.

Physical Demands

Working conditions require manual dexterity using calculator and computer keyboard. May be required to occasionally lift boxes weighing 20-30 pounds.

Some travel and occasional evening/weekend work is required.
