Job Title Postgraduate Academic Library Fellow/Assistant Professor of Library Media
Job Description

The Fellow will rotate through the library’s departments and have meaningful work assignments contributing to each department’s success. Each rotation will build the Fellow’s understanding of the library’s mission, role, and structure in meeting stakeholder needs; and hone the Fellow’s ability to adapt to new situations and work with different groups. The Fellow will also benefit from mentoring relationships with faculty throughout the library.

This position is a one-year term, non-tenure track appointment.

General Duties & Responsibilities

1. Rotates through the library’s departments: Works with library faculty and staff in rotation to gain familiarity with a broad range of operational library tasks; works collegially with other faculty and staff in internal planning and documentation processes for the library.
2. Acts as liaison to the first-year experience programs on campus and interacts with other campus units as a support/resource, particularly those that serve underrepresented populations
a. Helps facilitate library efforts for the first-year experience and other undergraduate student activities in collaboration with campus partners.
b. Initiates and maintains professional acquaintances with relevant campus units.
c. Uses LibGuides, the library Web site, and other tools to create digital and print informational tutorials, guides, and handouts.
3. Teaches assigned sections of LM 1010, Information Literacy.
4. Assumes regular service assignments at the Questions Desk.
5. Regularly reflects upon and reports activity to supervisors and library administration.
6. Other duties as required and assigned by library administration.

Required Qualifications

1. Awarded or pending MLS from ALA-accredited library school or foreign equivalent.
2. Ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks asynchronously in an academic environment.
3. Flexibility and interpersonal abilities of a nature to work successfully with a wide variety of constituencies including students, university faculty, staff, and administration.
4. Evidence of ability to work independently and collegially.
5. Organizational, written, and oral-communication skills.
6. Commitment to effective service for both internal and external clients.

In accordance with Utah State Code 53B-1-110, appointment to this position is contingent upon the successful passing of a background check.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Working knowledge of instructional design issues and research skills in secondary sources.
2. Commitment to teaching at the college level (online and/or face-to-face).
